Job Summary

The People Services, Director is responsible for coordinating and directing co-worker relations programs and functions. This leadership role focuses on personnel administration, policy development, wage and salary structuring, and ensuring compliance with Human Resource functions. The Director will develop, interpret, and recommend program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures while fostering a family-friendly organizational culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties represent the key responsibilities of this position but are not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs:

Co-Worker Relations and Talent Management
  • Formulate and recommend program goals and objectives to enhance co-worker relations.
  • Develop, implement, and administer co-worker relations programs aimed at fostering a positive and family-friendly work environment.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to working conditions, disciplinary actions, grievances, and employee appeals. Provide guidance and recommendations for resolution.
Staffing and Recruitment
  • Identify staffing and recruiting needs and develop best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Direct recruitment efforts, including advertising and outreach strategies, in collaboration with Nursing Administration and Ancillary Department Leaders.
  • Supervise the onboarding process for new employees, including determining eligibility and updating general orientation programs.
Policy, Training, and Leadership Development
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR goals with organizational strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Supervise staff in developing and implementing recruitment procedures, personnel policies, and in-service employee training programs.
  • Provide high-level communication and training to directors and managers on HR policies, procedures, and practices.
Operational Oversight
  • Prepare and manage the HR department budget, ensuring all operations remain within approved allocations.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend hiring, promotions, terminations, or disciplinary actions.
  • Develop and present required and special reports as needed.
Qualifications Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 7 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including union experience, is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, policy development, and compliance within a unionized environment.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in HR software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
