Overview We are seeking a candidate to fill our Functional Group Manager position at Road and Bridge! The Larimer County Road & Bridge Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 419 centerline miles of non-paved roads, 384 centerline miles of paved roads, and 101 miles of subdivision roads in Larimer County. This position is part of our senior management team and will oversee approximately three field teams. The typical schedule for this position is 7:00 am–3:30 pm Monday to Friday in the winter, and 7:00 am–5:30 pm Monday to Thursday in the summer, with a 24‑hour/365‑day non‑restrictive call‑back. Responsibilities What you’ll be doing: Exercises direct and indirect supervision over team leaders, field operations employees, suppliers, and contractors. Comply with departmental missions, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure all work meets the required expectations. Ensures expenses in each area of responsibility are within approved budget authority provided by the Director. Evaluates, determines, and recommends resources needed for appropriate road maintenance projects. Prepares specifications and establishes quantities needed of materials and services to be procured through a formal bid process. Plans, evaluates, and adjusts activities of personnel performing assigned tasks. When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker. Have knowledge of construction contracting and contract administration. Manage, evaluate, coach, train, and discipline assigned personnel. Have safe work practices and work zone traffic safety. Have knowledge of street/highway construction, maintenance, and work zone practices. Analyze data and work situations to develop effective and workable plans of action. Implement and/or oversee contractors for goods and services. Successfully plan, manage, evaluate, and adjust multiple priorities and functions. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Experience substituted for education requirements must be in addition to the five (5) years of management/supervisory experience required below. Five (5) years of supervisory/management experience in roadway construction, roadway maintenance, production of aggregate material, work‑zone practices, or an equivalent field required. Possession of a valid Driver’s License by date of hire required. Possession of, and ability to maintain, “X” – Haz‑Mat and tanker endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire date required. Possession of, and ability to maintain, a DOT Medical Certificate required. Possession of, and ability to maintain, a Class “A” CDL Driver’s License with an ‘N’ – Tanker endorsement and without the following restrictions: ‘L’ – air brake, ‘O’ – no/tract‑or/tract‑or‑trailer restriction(s), “E” – no manual transmission, “X” – no cargo in CMV tank vehicle or “Z” – no full air‑brake‑equipped CMV required within twelve (12) months of hire date required.
