The Designer / Selections Coordinator is a contract-based role responsible for leading the selections and design coordination process from concept through final approval. This role ensures that design decisions are clearly defined, aligned with construction logic, and fully documented before entering production. This posting is part of our proactive talent pipeline as we anticipate future project needs. Qualified professionals will be considered as upcoming opportunities arise. This is a coordination-first, selections-first role - not a drafting or architectural production position. Scope of Work & Key Outcomes Design & Selections Leadership Guide clients through finish and material selections including cabinetry, flooring, tile, countertops, lighting, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and appliances Coordinate layout intent and space planning with Project Managers and field teams Maintain selections schedules, approvals, and budget alignment Identify and resolve design questions early to prevent rework or delays Documentation & Construction Alignment Translate selections into organized, build-ready documentation Coordinate with vendors and showrooms to confirm specifications and lead times Track revisions, approvals, and changes with precision Ensure selections align with scope, sequencing, and procurement requirements Client & Team Communication Serve as a steady, professional guide for clients during the design phase Communicate clearly with Project Managers, vendors, and leadership Reduce ambiguity through proactive clarification and disciplined follow-through What Success Looks Like Design decisions are clear, documented, and build-ready before production Clients feel guided and confident throughout the selections process Project Managers receive coordinated, actionable information Downstream confusion and rework are minimized Vendors and procurement timelines are aligned with project schedules Ideal Professional Profile 5+ years of experience in residential design, selections coordination, or interior design within a construction environment Strong understanding of residential construction sequencing and constraints Highly organized with strong documentation habits Professional and confident client communication skills Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously Independent professional who exercises sound judgment and accountability Independent Contractor Structure (Texas-Compliant) This opportunity is structured as a 1099 independent contractor engagement and does not constitute an employment relationship. The Designer / Selections Coordinator will: Maintain control over how work is performed Use their own professional tools, systems, and methods Determine work schedule within agreed project milestones Invoice Gill Construction for services rendered Be responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and business expenses This engagement does not include employee benefits, paid time off, or tax withholding and does not create an employer-employee relationship under Texas or federal law.
