Heavy Equipment Operator C.J. Hughes Construction Co., Inc. Pay: $24.25 – $34.35 per hour Job Type: Full-time Location: Travel Required C.J. Hughes Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position involves operating a variety of heavy equipment—such as excavators and skid steers—in a safe and efficient manner on underground utility projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working around existing utilities and be capable of performing physical labor in all weather conditions. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment including various-sized excavators, skid steers, and other construction machinery Excavate safely near buried and existing utilities Perform tasks related to pipeline construction and maintenance Follow all safety procedures and work in compliance with company and DOT regulations Travel as needed for projects, including overnight stays and overtime Assist crew with physical labor when not operating equipment Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment (preferred) Proven ability to safely excavate around underground utilities Working knowledge of pipeline construction and trenching/backfilling techniques Ability to read utility locator markings Must pass and maintain all required Operator Qualifications and testing Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong commitment to safety and quality work Valid driver’s license with an acceptable MVR Reliable transportation Must pass pre‑employment screenings including drug test and MVR check Must provide two forms of ID for I‑9 verification Education High School Diploma or GED (preferred) Must pass and maintain required certifications, qualifications, and tests before and after hire Benefits 401(k) retirement plan Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid vacation Paid holidays Overtime opportunities Schedule 8 to 10‑hour shifts Overtime as needed C.J.
