The City of Bryan Fiscal Services Department is seeking qualified candidates for General Accountant. This position performs a broad range of professional accounting duties such as account reconciliation, preparation, and analysis of accounting reports and schedules, preparation of journal entries, preparation and analysis of financial reports, budget analysis, and other projects as assigned. Starting Pay: $55,000-$68,000/year (depending on qualifications) Responsibilities Compiles and prepares various reports as required, including monthly financial reports and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report with minimal supervision. Ensures the accuracy of financial reports produced by the Fiscal Services Department. Performs accounting functions in accordance with GAAP and GASB guidelines as applicable and in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Performs reconciliation of bank accounts and allocations of various expenditures and administrative charges. Performs capital asset accounting and reporting functions. Prepares accounting entries to record various revenues, expenditures, accounts receivable, and payable; prepares associated reconciliation. Prepares schedules for the annual financial audit. Analyzes and prepares unclaimed property submissions to the State. Analyzes accounts and prepares journal entries for discrepancies. Ensures compliance with City policies, State and Federal regulations, reporting requirements, etc. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in accounting, finance, or a similar field of study plus at least 2 years of directly related experience; OR an Associate’s degree with significant coursework as previously listed plus at least 4 years of directly related experience. CPA Certification is preferred and/or prior experience in municipal accounting preferred, but not required. Equivalent combinations of related education, experience, certification, and training may be considered. #J-18808-Ljbffr
