Job Summary
This position performs heavy custodial cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds at Central Lakes College which includes - cleaning all types of public facilities; maintaining walkways and grounds; performing minor repairs to fixtures and equipment; recognizing and correcting and/or reporting to supervisor any security, fire, safety or health hazards; receiving and delivering freight and supplies; setting-up furniture and equipment for special events. This position is part of the overall team which ensures that the buildings and grounds are well maintained and kept in good repair for the safety of the students, faculty, staff and general public.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
- Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
- Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
- Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions.
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
- Ability to keep simple records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of special skills ordinarily performed by groundskeepers, carpenters, painters, janitors, and mechanics sufficient to make minor repairs.
- State of Minnesota Boilers License.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Work above the ground level such as on ladders and scaffolding.
- Demonstrated high level of cultural competency and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning with CLC's Culture of Caring environment.
Physical Requirements
- Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions (e.g. lifting, standing, sitting pulling). Physical abilities include bending, stooping, and reaching above shoulder level, crouching, pushing and pulling on a regular basis.
- Twisting and squatting are necessary on an occasional basis.
- Ability to work outside in extreme heat or below freezing weather.
- Work above the ground level such as on ladders and scaffolding.
- Ability to move up to 50 pounds.
Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
