Position Description

The City of Walnut Creek is seeking to fill openings in the Streets Maintenance Division and to develop a list for future openings.

Candidates may be hired at either the General Maintenance Worker or Street Maintenance Worker level, depending on qualifications.

Candidates hired at the General Maintenance Worker level may be promoted to Street Maintenance Worker upon successful completion of a structured internal training program.

Individuals who work in this division take part in a flexible schedule, which includes starting at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m.

Regional Government Services and its staff are recruiting on behalf of the City of Walnut Creek.

The Position
General Maintenance Worker - $30.21 - $36.40/Hour
Performs various tasks in the maintenance and repair of City streets, sidewalks, curb and gutter and storm drains; and performs related work as required. Newly hired incumbents will be given on-the-job training to become eligible for promotion to Street Maintenance Worker.

Street Maintenance Worker - $33.44 - $40.31/Hour
Performs journey-level work in the construction, maintenance, repair, sweeping, and cleaning of City streets, curbs, gutters, storm drains, rights-of-way, and similar facilities; and performs related work as required. Additionally, newly hired incumbents will be provided with on-the-job training to obtain their Class A Drivers license.
