About the Role
We are seeking a commercially driven and entrepreneurial General Manager to lead and scale our global freight forwarding business. This role requires a proven industry leader with an established client base capable of generating immediate revenue, as well as a strong network within the logistics and supply chain sector to identify and pursue strategic partnerships and M&A opportunities.
The ideal candidate combines strong sales leadership with deep multimodal logistics expertise and operational oversight, driving both top-line growth and bottom-line profitability while positioning the organization for long-term expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Growth & Revenue Acceleration
- Immediate Revenue Generation: Leverage an existing portfolio of high-value clients to drive immediate business across air and ocean freight services.
- Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and execute robust sales strategies, managing high-value pipelines and securing long-term executive-level partnerships.
- Market Expansion: Identify and penetrate new trade lanes and key industry verticals to increase regional market share.
Strategic M&A & Industry Networking
- Corporate Development: Utilize an established industry network to source, evaluate, and support M&A opportunities and strategic joint ventures.
- Partnership Management: Build and maintain a network of strategic partners to enhance service capabilities and global reach.
Financial Accountability & Reporting
- Full P&L Ownership: Take total accountability for regional revenue, cost control, margins, and overall profitability.
- Executive Communication: Maintain frequent alignment with HQ C-level leadership, delivering transparent financial reports, risk assessments, and strategic growth updates.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Multi-Site Management: Oversee sales, operations, and support functions across multiple locations to ensure standardized efficiency and service quality.
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure absolute compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and internal risk mitigation policies.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Synchronize sales, pricing, and customer service teams to deliver seamless, high-quality logistics solutions.
Talent & Performance Management
- KPI Framework: Establish and monitor rigorous KPIs to drive performance across all departments.
- Team Development: Conduct regular evaluations, identify capability gaps, and implement targeted training programs to build a high-performing leadership pipeline.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10-15 years in the global freight forwarding industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Established Client Base: Demonstrated ability to bring an existing book of business that can generate immediate revenue.
- Expertise in Freight Forwarding: Deep knowledge of air, ocean, and multimodal logistics, including trade lanes, carrier management, and pricing strategies.
- Strong Industry Network: Extensive network within the logistics and supply chain industry with demonstrated success in sourcing and executing M&A and strategic partnerships across ocean carriers, airlines, warehousing, trucking, and related service providers.
- Commercial and Financial Acumen: Advanced experience managing full P&L, complex contract negotiations, multi-location budgets, and delivering accurate financial reporting.
- Strong Analytical and Performance Management Skills: Ability to assess business performance, identify gaps, and implement effective improvement plans.
- Operational Leadership Across Multiple Locations: Experience managing cross-functional teams (sales, operations, support) in a multi-site environment.
- Exceptional Communication and Executive Presence: Comfortable engaging with C-level leadership and presenting business insights and strategies.
- Bilingual Capability: Fluency in English and Chinese is preferred to support oversea communication and client engagement.
- Business Travel: 15% domestically and internationally.
