Responsibilities:
- Manage department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports and ordering products and supplies so as to meet customer requirements and the company's gross profit goals.
- Hire, evaluate, and supervise the overall department personnel.
- Develop and implement a highly localized merchandising plan for each department, set up and create displays for new and seasonal items.
- Ensure accurate and timely ordering to prevent losses that result from grocery item spoils before they can be sold.
- Maintains good vendor relationships, develops new vendor relations, and ensures all paperwork is properly submitted for vendor processing.
- Schedule grocery department employees, oversee and assist with their training, reward, and recognize their performance and delegate their work assignments in an efficient process.
- Control department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies by controlling labor costs and by reducing losses due to shrinkage and pilferage.
- Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising.
- Keep updated on special grocery needs for the holidays, as well as trends in consumer goods that affect consumer demand.
- Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs while directing team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; respond promptly to customer needs and questions.
- Create and follow departmental procedures for receiving merchandise including inspecting the product when delivered, pricing the product, restocking cases to ensure freshness and quality, and product rotation.
- Maintain an effective housekeeping program.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Store Director.
Requirements
- Bilingual English / Spanish is preferable, but not necessary.
- High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of grocery management and distribution.
- Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members.
- Growth mindset towards greater responsibility and ownership as you’ll.
- Desire to coach and mentor others for growth.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
- Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner.

- Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.

The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
