Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Geotechnical Department Manager to lead the geotechnical engineering team at our South Daytona office. This leadership role focuses on managing projects, mentoring staff, ensuring quality standards, and driving department growth through technical excellence and business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete lifecycle of geotechnical engineering projects.
- Lead and mentor a team of geotechnical engineers, geologists, project managers, and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with geotechnical engineering best practices, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
- Oversee departmental P&L, tracking budget, revenue, forecasts, and overall financial performance.
- Conduct technical reviews of proposals, reports, and calculations.
- Develop staff skills through training initiatives and set goals for the geotechnical team.
- Prepare and review geotechnical engineering reports and service proposals.
- Support business development through client engagement, marketing efforts, and community involvement.
- Promote company values, a positive work culture, and high employee engagement.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in civil or geotechnical engineering.
- Proven leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Advanced technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and applications.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L responsibilities.
- Strong business development skills with a track record of securing client projects.
- Understanding of geotechnical conditions and the construction industry.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Preferred Education & Certifications:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on geotechnical studies.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) preferred; unlicensed candidates must obtain licensure within three months of hire.
