Location: Central Florida (Onsite Daily)

Position Overview

The Geotechnical Engineer provides technical analysis, modeling, and engineering support for mining operations. This role supports projects involving clay disposal areas, dragline crossings, infrastructure corridors, and other mining-related geotechnical initiatives.

This position requires strong coordination with consultant engineers, contractors, and internal teams to develop safe, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

What You Will Do
  • Support detailed engineering of mining/geotechnical projects
  • Perform computer modeling, analysis, and interpretation of results
  • Develop civil and geotechnical solutions
  • Provide engineering support related to:
    • Soil mechanics
    • Stormwater management
    • Hydraulics and open channel flow
    • Concrete and steel structures
  • Monitor contractor performance and oversee monitoring programs
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Rules 62-672
    • Federal regulations
    • Consent Decree requirements
  • Support clay settling area operations and permitting processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure permit compliance
  • Provide ongoing geotechnical assistance as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mining, or related Engineering discipline (required)
  • Surface mining or heavy construction experience
  • Exposure to environmental compliance and stormwater management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in engineering modeling and productivity software
  • Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships
Preferred
  • Graduate-level coursework or certifications in engineering, business, construction, or project management
  • EI or PE certification (depending on level)
Experience by Level Engineer III
  • 4+ years relevant experience
  • PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months
Senior Engineer
  • 8+ years relevant experience
  • PE license strongly preferred
