Position Overview

The Geotechnical Engineer (Design-Focused) is responsible for leading and supporting the design of mining and geotechnical infrastructure projects. This role requires strong engineering design capabilities, modeling expertise, and the ability to develop engineered solutions from concept through implementation.

The engineer will play a critical role in clay disposal design, infrastructure corridor development, dragline crossings, and stormwater management systems.

What You Will Do
  • Lead development of geotechnical and civil design packages
  • Perform advanced geotechnical modeling and analysis
  • Develop design solutions for:
    • Clay settling areas
    • Mining infrastructure corridors
    • Stormwater and hydraulic systems
    • Structural foundations and support systems
  • Interpret modeling results and provide engineering recommendations
  • Coordinate closely with EPC firms, consultants, and contractors
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with FDEP, federal rules, and permit conditions
  • Provide technical oversight during construction phases
  • Support cost-effective and sustainable design solutions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mining, or related Engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated engineering and design experience in surface mining or heavy construction
  • Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, hydraulics, and structural interaction
  • Experience in environmental and regulatory compliance
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering modeling software
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Graduate-level coursework or advanced certifications
Experience Requirements Engineer III
  • 4+ years of mining/heavy construction experience
  • Proven design experience
Senior Engineer
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Extensive design leadership experience
  • PE license preferred
