Gis Technician Apply
Cloudpoint Geospatial is looking for a GIS Technician to provide project support through GPS field data collection, map creation, and geospatial data editing. The ideal candidate will have experience with hands-on use of survey equipment or GPS tools for data collection. The GIS Technician must be willing to travel throughout the country with occasional weekly trips. A motivated, quick learner, who loves technology, will have ample opportunities to grow and be a part of a team.
Pay Transparency: Pay for this role will be based on experience and education. Compensation is between $23.00 and $28.00 an hour, non-exempt.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Onsite field work involving data collection, data entry, condition assessments, and various location-based measurements.
- Use LiDAR scanning equipment and GNSS equipment for data collection.
- Perform GIS data maintenance, analysis, entry, and conversion; perform data research, investigation, and verification; assist with solving technical problems and determining possible solutions.
- Create, maintain, and update digital maps, drawings, plans, spreadsheets, data files, and documentation for a variety of uses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on geography, engineering, planning, computer science, a related field.
- 2+ years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of college education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications and the ability to learn new hardware and software components.
- Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.
- Maintain a clean driving record and be capable of operating technical equipment.
- The ability to travel regionally including occasional overnight stays (up to 30%). Travel will be frequent during the summer months.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years of data collection experience in the field.
- Experience manipulating geospatial data using Esri software.
- Experience in GNSS, LiDAR, or UAS and data capture technologies.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace Applications.
Work Context:
- Work operating a computer in an office (or home office) setting.
- Work in the field under varying weather conditions requiring walking and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Frequently communicates with coworkers and clients about project work and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information in these situations.
