Estimator Responsibilities:
Project Assessments: Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and other relevant documents to accurately assess the scope of work required for glazing projects.
Cost Estimations: Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for glazing projects, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other associated expenses.
Vendor and Supplier Management: Source and maintain relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and ensure timely delivery.
Quantity Take-offs: Perform precise quantity take-offs of glazing materials and components to determine accurate project costs.
Value Engineering: Collaborate with the engineering and design teams to suggest value engineering options that optimize costs without compromising quality.
Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bid packages, ensuring all relevant details and cost breakdowns are clearly presented.
Proposal Submission: Submit accurate and timely proposals to clients, ensuring compliance with project requirements and adhering to bid deadlines.
Cost Analysis: Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs with actual costs, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving measures.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, material costs, and glazing techniques to enhance estimation accuracy and efficiency.
Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless handover of projects from estimation to execution.
Estimator Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Glazing Estimator, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the glazing or construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of glazing systems, faade components, and construction methodologies.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills to accurately assess project costs and quantities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams effectively.
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Strong negotiation skills to obtain competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
