 Our Government Services team is growing and we are currently seeking an Accounting Specialist to work in our New Philadelphia, Medina or Millersburg, Ohio offices. This role is responsible for journal entries, preparing work papers, tracking fixed assets, and developing client relationships. Experience in governmental accounting is not required – we are willing to train the right candidate! If you're eager to learn and meet the qualifications, we'd love to hear from you 

Responsibilities

  • Applying governmental accounting standards to financial statement preparation process (including Cash to GAAP accrual) 
  • Preparing journal entries 
  • Tracking fixed assets and preparing depreciation schedules in our software 
  • Follow prior period work-papers to determine level of work to be completed 
  • Identifying questions and communicating effectively to appropriate parties, including clients and auditors 
  • Preparing workpapers in a clear, concise manner while adhering to deadlines and time budgets 
  • Managing and prioritizing workload to ensure that deadlines are met 
  • Developing client relationships  

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills 
  • Knowledge of general accounting concepts 
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and projects, while collaborating with peers in a team-oriented environment 
  • Problem-solving skills 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Project management skills 

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or comparable accounting and bookkeeping experience preferred 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and being proficient in Word and Excel
