Graduate Teaching Assistant – GuildfordTeaching Assistant – Guildford Location: Guildford, Surrey Contract: Full-time or Part-time considered Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, term-time only Start Date: As soon as possible School Type: Primary (with some SEN needs across year groups). About the RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will play a central role in supporting pupils’ learning, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. The role involves working both in the classroom and on a one-to-one or small-group basis with pupils who require additional support.Daily responsibilities include:Supporting pupils with their learning across all curriculum areasWorking one-to-one with children who may have additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, SEMH needs, or academic delayLeading or assisting with small-group interventions (phonics, reading, math’s boosters, social skills groups)Helping to create a positive, calm and purposeful learning environmentSupporting behaviour management using positive strategiesPreparing resources, assisting with displays, and helping the class teacher with classroom organisationSupervising pupils during transitions, break, and lunchtimeRecording observations, feeding back to teachers, and contributing to pupil progress discussionsWhat We Are Looking ForWe are seeking a candidate who is:Essential qualities:Passionate about supporting children’s developmentPatient, calm, and able to form strong, positive relationships with pupilsA good communicator who can work effectively as part of a teamReliable, enthusiastic, and willing to learn new skillsAble to follow instructions but also use initiativeConfident with English and Maths (GCSE grade C/4 or above)Desirable experience: Previous experience working with children or young peopleKnowledge of SEND (particularly ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language)Experience with behaviour management strategiesFamiliarity with phonics programmes such as Little WandleUnderstanding of EHCPs and personalised learning plansTraining will be provided for the right candidate, making this a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to build a career in education.
