Title: Groundskeeper
Pay Rate Range: $23.70/hr

Schedule: Full-time, Monday Friday, 6:00 AM 2:30 PM

Tekberry is seeking a dependable and motivated Groundskeeper to work onsite with our client, a world-class university campus known for its exceptional landscapes and operational excellence. In this role, you will help maintain the appearance, safety, and overall condition of outdoor grounds, gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas across campus.

Responsibilities

• Mow, fertilize, and water lawns, shrubbery, ground cover, flowering plants, and trees.
• Prepare beds for planting and perform seasonal updates.
• Weed small areas and remove leaves, debris, and rubbish from grounds.
• Cultivate, prune, plant, transplant, and maintain shrubs, ground cover, flowers, and trees.
• Operate walking power mowers and other non-mobile power equipment as needed.
• Adhere to all campus landscaping, environmental, and safety rules.

Campus Upkeep & Safety

• Maintain cleanliness and usability of assigned grounds and landscaped areas.
• Perform routine safety and condition checks; report hazards promptly.
• Maintain tools and equipment and report mechanical issues.

Driving & Daily Operations

• Daily driving on campus to assigned job locations (approx. 2 4 miles per day).
• Use smartphones/tablets for basic communication, email, calendaring, and task updates.
• Follow work orders and instructions provided in English, both verbally and in writing.

Must-Have Qualifications

• MUST have a valid California Driver's License and be 21+ for campus driving requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to understand and follow job-related instructions in English (verbal & written).
• Basic computer skills (email, calendar) and experience using smartphones.
• Basic horticultural knowledge.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to complete a Basic + MVR background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Horticultural industry-related certification or landscaping coursework.
• Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance.
• Knowledge of afe operation of small power equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and perform physical outdoor labor for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Comfortable working in all outdoor weather conditions.
