POSITION OBJECTIVES

As the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Business Technology Lead at Overseas Food Trading Ltd, you will drive the strategic and technical direction of the company’s technology initiatives. You will be responsible for shaping and implementing the overall business technology strategy, ensuring that it aligns with the company’s goals. The role requires hands-on technical expertise combined with a strategic mindset to see the big picture. You will collaborate closely with other functional leads, guide cross-functional technology solutions, and ensure that the technical infrastructure supports the company’s growth and operational efficiency. Additionally, you will bring innovation to your function, identifying and implementing new technologies or processes that enhance the business. You will also build and maintain strong partnerships with external vendors, review contracts, and manage vendor relationships to protect and support the business. As a leader, you will manage and orchestrate a team with both technical and business-oriented skill sets, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic focus for the current year and beyond.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Lead the strategic and technical direction for all business technology initiatives, ensuring

alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.

Oversee the implementation of technology solutions, ensuring they meet both strategic and

operational needs.

Collaborate with functional leads across the organization to integrate technology that supports

business processes and drives efficiency.

Innovate and introduce new technologies or methodologies that provide competitive advantages

or operational improvements.

Build and maintain strong partnerships with external vendors and stakeholders; negotiate,

review, and manage vendor contracts to ensure optimal service delivery and protection of

company interests.

Manage and orchestrate a cross-functional team of technical and business professionals,

fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Ensure that all technology solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with best practices in

cybersecurity and data governance.

Lead and manage the company's information security strategy as a Chief Information Security

Officer (CISO), ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements and

ensuring that the company has a business continuity/recovery plan established and maintained.

Provide leadership and guidance for large-scale projects, from conceptualization through to

implementation, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with business strategy.

Ability to adapt experience and background to a small/medium sized business within the food

industry, when thinking about solutions and resources.

Communicate to internal stakeholders risk assessments for projects, and where appropriate

short-term mitigation plans, in a non-technical manner.

 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Adhere to Overseas Food Trading Standards of Conduct.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize and work with limited supervision.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Available to work in the office on most days, with occasional hybrid work.

 

JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position.

 

Education and Experience:

10+ years of experience in major programming languages, including HTML, JavaScript, and

Python.

10+ years of experience with systems design, database design, and management.

Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a bonus.

Essential experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace productivity suites as Global

Administrator.

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) or in a similar

role.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in people management and leading a function in a

technology-focused role.

Professional qualifications with Microsoft, Google, Cisco, Amazon, or other major vendors are

preferred.

MBA is preferred.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Technical Skills:

Deep proficiency in full-stack development and hands-on technical implementation.

Extensive experience with systems architecture, database design, and cloud-based solutions.

Strong understanding of information security principles and practices, with proven experience in

managing an enterprise-wide security program.

Experience working with both Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure is highly valued.

Proven experience in creating and building roadmaps cross-functionally.

1-2 years of experience managing technical vendors.

Business & Soft Skills:

Proven ability to develop and execute strategic technology initiatives that align with business

goals.

Proven ability to build and maintain a sustainable business and technology team that supports

operations and drives strategy.

Emphasis on the ability to understand fiscal responsibility and budget management with

operations.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and develop a

cross-functional team.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with executive leadership,

functional leads, and external stakeholders.

Ability to negotiate, review, and manage vendor contracts, ensuring that company interests are

protected and vendor performance is optimized.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong written and verbal skills.

 

Physical, sensory and motor demands:

Frequent standing and sitting. Intermittent squatting, bending, twisting, lifting. This position
