Head of Operations – Manufacturing | Murfreesboro, TN

Overview:
An established manufacturer is seeking a Head of Operations to lead all aspects of plant operations, driving excellence in production performance, quality, safety, and strategic growth. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role serves as a key business partner in achieving P&L goals while advancing operational efficiency, team development, and long-term strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all operational activities to achieve targets in production, quality, cost, efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.

  • Partner with the Plant Manager to develop and execute strategies that meet P&L and value stream goals.

  • Direct operations teams in achieving short- and long-term objectives, ensuring alignment with corporate and plant initiatives.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies.

  • Oversee and report on production performance metrics, including output, labor utilization, waste reduction, and cost control.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards; act as a change agent for safety and operational excellence.

  • Manage resource planning, capacity, and capital expenditures to support production demands and business growth.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve process challenges and optimize performance.

  • Take ownership of talent management within the operations team, focusing on leadership development, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture where employees are valued, engaged, and empowered to contribute.

  • Lead and mentor both direct and indirect reports across a matrix organization.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (advanced degree a plus).

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience with at least 5 years in plant or operations leadership.

  • Proven experience in production management, Lean initiatives, and process improvement.

  • Plastic Injection Molding or Tier 1 Automotive experience strongly preferred.

  • Solid understanding of P&L management, budgeting, and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and manage cross-functional projects.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).

  • Ability to manage complex initiatives and multiple workstreams while maintaining focus on long-term objectives.

  • Global or multi-site operational experience is a plus.
