Responsibilities:
- Leads the Health, Safety and Environment team and manages environmental, industrial, health, and safety regulatory compliance for the facility.
- Oversees the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Collaborates with other business units to implement HSE programs, policies, and services.
- Partners with local and state regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
- Ensures corrective actions are taken where health and safety hazards exist.
- Oversees hazardous and radioactive waste disposal and monitors waste handling.
- Develops and oversees employee training programs for compliance, inspections, hazardous materials handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety.
- Defines and ensures development of safety procedures including chemical handling, hazardous waste disposal, ergonomics, injury prevention, and process safety.
- Leads and directs work for a team of employees; manages staff selection, performance, development, and training.
- Provides guidance, direction, and mentoring to indirect reports.
- Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Works variable schedules, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or 5–7 years of relevant experience in HSE or occupational health.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to build and sustain a high-performing HSE team.
- Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), Net Environmental Controls (NEC), and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC).
- Strong knowledge of MSDS, hazardous waste disposal, stormwater management, and industry safety standards including ISO 14001 and 45001.
- Working knowledge of government laws and regulations including CUPA and SARA.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.
