Empire State Mines is currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Health & Safety Coordinator at its mining operation. Located within 2-hour drive of The Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario shoreline, the Adirondack Mountains and world class skiing at Lake Placid. Explore Canada with Montreal and Ottawa only 2-3 hours away.Responsibilities: Focus on workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulationsDevelop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs as neededProvide safety training & educationConduct risk assessmentsInspect work environments underground and on the surfaceInvestigate accidentsAccompany MSHA on quarterly inspections or other site visitsEvaluate and recommend control measures to minimize riskStay informed of MSHA regulations along with other federal, state, and local H&S regulationsSchedule annual required physicals and hearing testsAssist with weekly and monthly H&S reportingMaintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and other required recordsWork with all departments of the business to promote a positive safety cultureOther reasonable duties as needed.Qualifications: Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and stay organizedAbility to use computer for written communication, tracking, and submitting reportsIndustry experience preferredMSHA Trainer Certification preferredExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsSkill in written and verbal communication (in English)Legally authorized to work in the US.EMPIRE STATE MINES offers 401K Retirement Plan including additional employer contribution of 5% of gross wages weekly.
