Position: Project Health & Safety Manager (full-time, permanent) Location: North Platte, NB, USA Rotation: 3 weeks on, 1 week off Schedule: 6 days on, 1 day off What We Offer Competitive Hourly Wage Comprehensive Benefits 401K Eligibility Paid Time Off Per Diem Eligibility (location and project based) Meal and Accommodation Allowance Annual boot allowance of $250 & annual clothing allowance of up to $900 Company phone and laptop Job Overview Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager, with a functional reporting relationship to the Director of Safety Operations, the Project Health & Safety Manager serves as the senior safety authority for a large-scale transmission construction project located in North Platte, NB, USA. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and leading the project health and safety program to ensure compliance with Company standards, Client requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations. The Project Health & Safety Manager works closely with Project Management, Construction Management, and field leadership to integrate safety into all phases of project execution and to promote a strong, proactive safety culture across multiple crews, workfronts, and contractors. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS SAFETY LEADERSHIP & PROGRAM EXECUTION Lead implementation and execution of the project Health & Safety Management Plan in alignment with Company and Client requirements Partner with Project and Construction Management to integrate safety planning into construction sequencing and execution strategies Provide visible safety leadership through regular field presence across active workfronts and crews Act as a change agent in promoting an Energy Based Safety and Human Performance model integrated into the operational culture COMPLIANCE, TRAINING & RISK MANAGEMENT Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and project-specific requirements Coordinate safety training, orientations, and competency verification in accordance with Company, Client, and regulatory standards Identify safety risks and trends, and develop mitigation strategies to prevent incidents and reduce exposure Stay current on safety regulations, industry best practices, and transmission-specific hazards INCIDENT MANAGEMENT & REPORTING Lead incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes in accordance with Company and Client procedures Maintain and analyze safety performance metrics, including incident statistics, near misses, and leading indicators Ensure accurate and timely safety reporting to Project Management, Corporate Safety, and Client representatives FIELD ENGAGEMENT & COACHING Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors and field personnel on safe work practices and hazard controls Support development and review of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and safe work procedures Actively engage with crews, forepersons, and superintendents to address safety concerns and reinforce expectations STAKEHOLDER & TEAM LEADERSHIP Serve as the primary health and safety liaison with Client representatives, regulators, and external stakeholders Lead and mentor site-based safety personnel and support coordination with shared safety resources as required Support continuous improvement initiatives through lessons learned, audits, and safety observations ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum 3+ years of progressive safety leadership experience within the powerline IE utility construction industry Prior experience as a Lineman or Apprentice is preferred Minimum 5+ years of experience leading and managing safety teams Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered Professional safety certification (e.g., BCSP, CUSP, or equivalent) is preferred Experience supporting large, project‑based construction environments is required SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong leadership and team‑building skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all organizational levels Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with project and corporate safety objectives Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, field‑based construction environment Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement Strong computer proficiency is required, including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting, data analysis, and communication Demonstrated ability to use safety management, reporting, and document control systems (e.g., Procore, incident reporting platforms, training databases, or similar) Ability to analyze safety data, prepare reports, track corrective actions, and communicate results using digital tools and project systems Comfortable working in digital, system‑driven project environments and supporting technology‑based safety programs ADDITIONAL DETAILS This position requires candidates to: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain and maintain U.S. work authorization Successfully complete pre‑employment and site‑specific drug and alcohol testing Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Complete background screening and criminal record checks as required This is a site‑based role operating on a rotational schedule. The anticipated rotation is three (3) weeks on / one (1) week off, working six (6) days on and one (1) day off (Sundays), with twelve (10) hour workdays.
