JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking your services to recruit Health and Safety Manager.
This position reports to the Managing Director and will be required to travel to the different plants.
  However the position will be based in Yallahs, St.
Thomas.

 
Main Activities/Responsibilities

 Health & Safety Management System:
  •  Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
  •  Provide H&S expertise and support to site management and supervisors for the management of H&S
  •  Support and challenge the line in defining and prioritizing the actions to implement a long-term country and site H&S strategy
  • Use and provide specialized H&S knowledge and experience to help site leadership drive behavioral changes in the business to reduce incidents and become an industry world reference in H&S
  • Translate strategic vision into comprehensive and pragmatic improvement plans to meet or exceed H&S ambitions set up at the country level
  •  Actively participate in working with the rest of H&S and teams in proposing, communicating, and implementing the Group and Country H&S strategy
  •  Play a leadership role in the Group to provide expertise on two or three critical H&S topics, becoming the subject matter expert 
  •  Define the relevant dashboard to track the safety momentum and performance of the sites assigned.
    Support collection, analysis and distribution of relevant KPI
  •  Coach and assist supervisors and managers on incident investigations
  • Works with HR and site management to provide support on best working conditions and safe working environment (for night shift personnel, office and workplace ergonomics, etc…)
  • Participate and/or lead safety audits on sites/entities as per the group’s yearly schedule
  • Works with the Plant leadership teams to ensure regulatory and group compliance regarding exposure and monitoring of vibrations, noise, dust and other chemical agents
  • Assist Plant  leadership in their communications with government regulators
  • Advise, assist, and support local operations regarding compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.
    Assists the Plants during regulatory inspections and investigations, providing local management with the expertise to interpret regulatory compliance issues and the capacity to challenge the inspector’s findings
  • Ensure regular benchmarking and implementation of good practices from other sites or companies.
Environment Management System:
  • Live and advance the team goal of 100% environmental compliance 100% of the time
  • Advise operations on environmental regulatory requirements and provide technical support as needed
  • Keeps current and familiar with the operating status of assigned sites anticipating and resolving potential or actual environmental compliance issues
  • Keep current with local, state, and federal environmental legal requirements and monitor developments and changes
  • Provide day to day presence in the field and understand local issues
  • Deliver environmental training programs and ensure adequate records are maintained
  • Ensure air quality, oil and waste management, and storm water inspections, sampling, and related field work is completed for assigned sites
  • Ensure that all required recordkeeping and reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Actively participate in industry related organizations to keep abreast of standards and developing issues
  • Responsible for conducting audits and evaluations of compliance with regulatory and industry standards
  • Responsible for performing audits of facilities for conformance with company policies and procedures and making recommendations to Operations
  • Assist Operations in identifying and managing capital projects for site environmental upgrades
  •  Participate in projects with cross functional teams to address business opportunities or challenges and provide environmental expertise
  •  Advise and support land management practices and processes including land acquisition, land divestment, permitting, and zoning
  • Oversee consultant work in accordance with the Environment project authorizations
  • Prepare air permit applications, various plans, and regulatory compliance
  • Develop and implement spill prevention and control plans and stormwater pollution prevention plans
  • Respond and provide oversight for emergency response actions that arise in relation to environmental or land incidents
Qualification & Skills:
  • Undergraduate Degree in OSH or equivalent
  • Designation  in Occupational Health and Safety preferred
  • Formal training in leadership, team building, continuous improvements, and related fields
  • 3-5 Years experience at the Supervisory Level
  • Proficient in  MS Office and Google software programs: Excel, PPT, Word, G-Drive Knowledge of document management software (preferred)
