Currently, the Madison County Health Department is seeking a Health Educator for the Danielsville clinic. The ideal candidate will promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities adopt healthy behaviors. Identify community needs in the field of adolescent health, especially as it relates to teen pregnancy prevention and comprehensive sex education. Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments.

As a Health Educator within the Madison County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health , you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:


  • Specific duties include classroom education, one-on-one health education, clinical intake, promotion of awareness events, and hosting parent education sessions.
  • Must be willing to work both independently as well as part of an Adolescent Health Team.
  • Collaboration with clinical staff, schools, and community groups is required.
  • Participates in site visits, community meetings, technical assistance and conference calls, required trainings, and regional and annual state-wide meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and organizations in the community to meet community needs and prevent duplication of services.
  • Organizes community stakeholders and resources to identify proactive and effective solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in public health education from an accredited college or university
OR
Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.

Annual salary $40,500 plus generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
