As a Health Information Management Specialist, you'll help ensure that medical records are processed with precision and confidentialitysupporting care teams, protecting patient privacy, and helping keep our organization running smoothly. This is a key administrative role for someone who values details, deadlines, and the importance of health data.This is a great opportunity for someone who: Thrives in a structured, detail-oriented environment, has strong organizational skills, and wants to play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of patient health information in a mission-driven behavioral healthcare setting.Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:Receive and process medical record requests in compliance with HIPAALog, prepare, and send records via mail, email, or fax with accuracy and professionalismPrepare invoices for billed record requests and monitor timelines for releaseScan and upload documents into the EHR and audit scanned files for qualitySupport medical records audits, chart conversions, and purging projectsProvide excellent customer service via phone and email regarding health recordsAdditional responsibilities for Royal Oaks location:Audit discharged patient records for completenessPerform quality checks to ensure all scanned materials are in the EHR systemRequirements, Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseHigh School/GED preferredWork Experience:Experience in a healthcare or clerical/records role preferredStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesProficient in maintaining confidentiality and working with sensitive informationComfortable with technology, document scanning, and electronic record systemsYou'll Be A Great Fit for This Role if You:Are highly organized and dependable with a sharp eye for detailEnjoy working behind the scenes to support excellent patient careUnderstand and respect the importance of confidentiality and HIPAA complianceAre comfortable working with electronic records and clerical systemsWant a role that blends independent work with mission-driven impactAbout Compass Health NetworkCompass Health Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering accessible, high-quality care throughout Missouri.
