For over 40 years, Hospice of Wichita Falls has been the only non-profit community-based hospice in the area, providing services in 12 North Texas counties. Our wonderful nursing staff meets our patients and families where they are, private homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and our free standing 24 bed inpatient center. Your life as a Health Information Specialist

Your role is very important to our patients and organization. We meet our patients where they are and this position will serve our patients in Wichita, Archer, Clay, Jack Montague and Young counties. We will rely on you to ensure that we support our staff in making sure that our organization is in compliance with ROI based on current regulations and laws. We work as a team so there will be a need to interact with other members of our team to provide support and training of volunteers that are performing Health Information tasks. You will also oversee and manage patient chart close out and compile the monthly status report for the Health Information Coordinator. Our schedules are generally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday.

Job Qualifications

  • Two (2) years' experience with an electronic medical record software system required.
  • RHIA, RHIT or eligible preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and Hospice regulations preferred
  • Ability to understand the physical, psychosocial and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and their families.
  • Ability to relate cooperatively with staff, volunteers, patients and families of varied and different backgrounds.
  • Ability to be flexible and deal with multiple demands.
  • Ability to function independently with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrates problem solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills in person and on phone to be used with public, physicians, case managers and social workers.
  • Ability to be at work as scheduled and alert/awake.
  • Ability to advance computer knowledge.
  • Type 60 words per minute accurately.
  • Understand medical terminology.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows-based programs and previous computer experience is required.
