Health Information Technician IPosition Title: Health Information Technician IDepartment: Health Information ManagementReports To: Director of Patient Financial ServicesPosition Code: 27281581FLSA: Non-ExemptGrade: 3Purpose of Position: Perform routine administrative duties related to the storage and retrieval of health information, process repetitive documents in accordance with established procedure.Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.Essential Functions:Perform high level administrative work to include, but not limited to, assembling and processing patient charts, retrieve files, maintain records, monitoring deficiencies in patient records, etc.Maintain accuracy of the storage and retrieval system, including the electronic health record and deliver charts as requiredCommunicate with providers and other hospital staff when necessary to resolve issues, answer questions and direct more difficult situations to the appropriate staff membersProvide administrative support to the department by answering telephones, data entry, filing, and completing basic release of information requests, etc.Cross-train to provide back-up support for other functions within the HIM and PFS departmentsPerform other duties as assignedPersonal Traits:All Norton Sound Health Corporation employees are expected to consistently demonstrate the organization's values: integrity, cultural sensitivity and respect for traditional values, continual learning and improving, compassion, teamwork and pride.
