The Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring the compliance of all local, State and Federal safety rules and regulations that are applicable to the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials. The Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist reviews and analyzes work environments and develops regulatory compliance programs, monitoring processes and related-training in order to ensure adherence to all requirements.
The Product Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with regulations guiding product manufacturing, packaging, safety, and quality. The Product Compliance Specialist performs various functions, which primarily involves ensuring product safety and compliance regulatory requirements or standards in their particular industry of operation, as well as in countries where their company’s products are sold.
Other essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Develops, implements, and oversees health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Reviews, implements and administers complex regulatory safety plans and programs by reviewing technical reports, training programs, ensuring programs are revised and implemented as necessary and that proper training is conducted for affected employees per OSHA requirements.
- Provides advice and assistance to management and operating personnel in achieving and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Develops comprehensive environmental and occupational safety and health inspection checklists and protocols, conducts inspections of facilities and escorts regulatory inspectors during inspections.
- Interfaces with government agencies to maintain regulatory compliance with Federal, State, regional, and local environmental laws and regulations by preparing permit applications and renewal documents and negotiating permit conditions and developing corrective action plans.
- Functions as an expert for Cal/OSHA regulations or citations and on matters related to industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, and other public health and safety issues.
- Coordinate with department managers in the compliance with material environmental hazard restrictions such as RoHS and REACH.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Experience handling product compliance, submitting products for global approvals, and obtaining certifications including RoHS and REACH.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and local, State, Federal safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn principles, practices of administration, organization, management analysis, and supervision.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn the methods, techniques and practices used in the management of environmental health and safety programs including detection, analysis, and elimination of environmental health and safety hazards.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as a computer. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years in Environmental and Safety Engineering and working knowledge of U.S. and California environmental and safety regulations
- Local SF Bay Area candidates preferred (No relocation available).
Benefits
Competitive Salary commensurate with ability. The pay range is initially set to be between $95,000 - $110,000 annually
