The Health Services Administrator manages facility health service activities, implements contractually required healthcare services, and serves as a liaison between facility staff, contracting agencies, and compliance agencies on healthcare matters. Responsibilities The Health Services Administrator manages the overall operations of a facility’s healthcare operations. Work with facility, regional, and corporate management to ensure healthcare needs are met and compliant with contractual healthcare policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Maintain effective relationships with correctional and nursing staff, contracted providers, and outside provider agencies. Use established policies and procedures with sound independent judgment in decision making. Direct the work of other employees and contract providers, including selection, hiring, evaluating, training, promoting, and disciplinary actions. Ensure adequate staffing to meet detainee healthcare needs and ensure licensure of healthcare personnel. Monitor operational issues (overtime, forms, medical file audits, records requests) and ensure appropriate interventions for detainees with health problems; ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and safety requirements. Ensure proper accreditation of the medical program for NCCHC, ACA, and/or TJC as required by the client. Complete and submit regular operational reports and respond to inquiries related to the health services unit. Identify and track health services budgetary expenses and seek opportunities to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness. Participate in obtaining outside vendors for ancillary healthcare services and maintain external relationships with hospitals or agencies. Attend outside educational seminars as needed and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Five (5) years of work experience in healthcare administration or healthcare management in a supervisory capacity, including experience managing clinical staff and clinical operations. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Nursing preferred. Work experience in a correctional or detention setting in an administrative or supervisory capacity preferred. Experience working in an outpatient setting preferred. Strong verbal and writing skills; ability to disseminate instructions clearly and prepare clear memorandums and reports. Proficiency with computers and relevant software; experience in healthcare planning, budgeting, and meeting contractual obligations. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
