Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to support bid preparation, cost analysis, and project planning for major infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned estimator with deep experience in heavy highway, concrete paving, site work, and underground utilities.

You'll work closely with project management, operations, and leadership to prepare accurate, competitive bids and support the company's continued growth across state, municipal, and DOT projects.

Onsite | No Visa Sponsorship | Relocation Assistance: Limited

Responsibilities:

Estimating & Take-Offs

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs from construction plans and specifications.
  • Review drawings, state/federal DOT specifications, and project documents to determine full scope of work.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.

Bid Preparation

  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes.
  • Develop bid summaries, cost breakdowns, and proposal documentation.
  • Participate in bid reviews and assist leadership in go/no‑go decisions.

Project Coordination

  • Communicate plans, scope, and contract terms to internal teams.
  • Support project management during handoff and early project phases.
  • Maintain accurate cost data, vendor information, and historical pricing.

Industry & Technical Expertise

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Utilize HCSS HeavyBid, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and other estimating/scheduling tools.
  • Apply strong knowledge of heavy highway construction including concrete paving, site work, drainage, sewer/water, and barrier installation.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 10+ years of heavy highway construction estimating experience.
  • Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and Primavera P6 required.
  • Strong plan-reading skills and understanding of multi-phase civil construction.
  • Field experience in heavy highway or civil construction strongly preferred.
  • Stable work history demonstrating long-term commitment and reliability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced, collaborative construction office setting.
  • Onsite, in-office role (pet-friendly environment with dogs' present)
