Responsibilities:

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty lift equipment at the railyard. This includes performing mechanical maintenance and repairs on side loaders (loaded container handlers), hostlers (semi tractors), forklifts, and various types of support equipment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, assess, and repair heavy-duty equipment, including lift trucks and support vehicles

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on side loaders, hostlers, forklifts, and related machinery

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, motors, filters, and hoses

  • Conduct driveline repairs on components such as axles, bearings, rings, and other related parts

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections

  • Operate safely in a fast-paced, outdoor railyard environment and adhere to all company safety protocols

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure timely and efficient repairs

Qualifications:
  • 1–3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or service technician

  • Previous crane mechanic experience is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, motors, filters, and hoses)
  • Driveline component repair experience (axles, bearings, ring, etc.)
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a safety focused environment
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
    • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
