GENERAL DESCRIPTION


The purpose of this classification to perform comprehensive maintenance and repairs on Lexington-Fayette Urban County Governments diverse fleet of heavy equipment, motor vehicles, and related systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of related experience
  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance as needed to maintain optimum performance
  • Perform safety inspections
  • Diagnoses and repairs all performance deficiencies
  • Fabricates parts and components as needed to make repairs
  • Purchases and maintains inventory of parts and supplies
  • Maintains records of work performed
  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Kentucky Commercial Drivers License (CDL) - Class B must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain the CDL as a condition of continued employment
  • One (1) certification from the list approved by Fleet Services (see addendum) must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment condition of continued employment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16
  • Must furnish own tools
  • Must be accessible for on-call duty and ability to work weekends, holidays and emergencies as
    assigned
