HIM Technician Health Information Management Summary The HIM Technician performs multiple functions within the department under general supervision, while maintaining patient privacy and following HIPAA rules. The HIM technician collaborates with others in the department to complete the following responsibilities: Responsibilities Respond to requests for disclosure of protected health information Collect and enter data for birth certificates Scan and index paper records into Electronic Medical Records (Epic) Abstract clinical information into Epic Perform medical record analysis Prepare and submit records for audits and care gap closures Additional duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree preferred Health care license preferred Certification or willingness to pursue certification in Health Information Managementedical Records is preferred Previous experience in physician clinic or hospital and experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, experience with electronic medical records system a plus 1 year experience preferred Schedule Full-Time; Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm Contact Information Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center Human Resources Department P O Box 278, Beatrice, NE 68310 02-223-7379 or FAX 402-223-6538 careers@bchhc.org To apply for an open position please go to and click on the Career Center Tab.
