We study colitis-associated colon cancer pathogenesis and stem cells in short bowel syndrome, using human tissues, human organoids and mouse models of disease.Position performs frozen tissue histology techniques and other clinical/lab duties that contribute to a smoothly functioning team.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Embed paraffin tissues, cover-slipping, block and slide preparation, some frozen microscopy, and general recordkeeping.
- May be asked to perform routine and special stains as needed and cut paraffin sections.
- Prepare materials and chemicals for serial sectioning and staining.
- Perform general maintenance of cryostat, tissue processor, and embedding center.
- Clean and prepare staining set.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Normal laboratory environment with exposure to some hazardous materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in medical office/laboratory with willingness to learn histology.
- Experience in medical assisting and/or laboratory support.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
Grade
C06-HSalary Range
$17.00 - $24.66 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Accommodation
