Job Summary:
Are you ready to grow in your HR career? KIC is seeking an experienced and motivated HR professional to join our People and Culture team. The ideal candidate will provide HR support in areas such as recruitment, onboarding, and payroll and benefits administration. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive work environment, ensuring HR processes and our HR system run smoothly, and enhancing employee engagement. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day HR operations of the company.


This position reports to our Director of People and Culture and will be based in KIC's Boston office, located in the Seaport district, and will follow a hybrid work schedule of 2 days remote, 3 days in the office.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable and exemplify our company values, especially open and courageous communication, risk taking, emotional maturity, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment, Onboarding, and Offboarding:

  • Manage job postings across various platforms and proactively source candidates.
  • Conduct initial phone screens to assess candidate qualifications and fit for all positions below Director level.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling and communication with hiring managers.
  • Facilitate the offer and pre-employment process, including background checks and reference verifications.
  • Maintain applicant tracking records and recruiting documentation.
  • Support new hire onboarding, including preparing new hire documents, conducting benefit and culture orientations, and ensuring a smooth integration into the company.
  • Serve as Project Manager to evaluate and improve KIC's onboarding tools and process.
  • Support employees and managers, including conducting exit interviews, for all voluntary terminations.

Payroll and Benefit Administration

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Maintain payroll and benefits records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal teams to manage benefit programs.
  • Partner with Finance to reconcile benefits and other HR related expenses and invoices.
  • Deliver quarterly Benefit Education series by creating content and coordinating with benefit vendors.
  • Analyze employee sentiment and feedback and make recommendations related to benefit offerings.

HR Administration and Support:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR function, including maintaining employee records and handling HR documentation.
  • Respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests and provide timely assistance.
  • Support various HR programs by tracking, driving, and reporting completion, collecting submissions, and consolidating roll-ups.
  • Maintain employee data in HR systems and generate reports as needed.
  • Assist in HR metrics tracking and reporting to help inform decision-making.
  • Conduct internal HR audits to ensure compliance.
  • Develop monthly HR communications in partnership with Director.

Employee Engagement:

  • Provide logistical support for various company events and collaborate with Executive Assistants, IT, and Facilities, as needed.
  • Serve as Project Manager for our annual Year in Review internal publication.


The ideal candidate will have most of the following skills and experience.

  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources in a small company, with a combination of Payroll and Benefit administration, recruiting, and onboarding experience.
  • HRIS/HCM system administration (Paylocity experience preferred).
  • Experience supporting event planning (such as company meetings, activities, or other events).
  • Ambitious, with a desire to grow professionally and learn new things.
  • Attention to detail, with experience with running reports, analyzing data, auditing, and process development or improvement.
  • Willingness to work with and help others.
  • Flexible/adaptable and capable of thriving in change as priorities evolve.
  • MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint/OneDrive, SharePoint Intranet)
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to speak comfortably with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Coursework in Human Resources or related field, is a plus!
