SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. This shall include, but not be limited to; enforcing company policies and practices, managing benefits, execution of employee payroll biweekly, and keeping the company within compliance, leveraging our third-party Eastern Alliance, as set forth by the states of Pennsylvania and Michigan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with the senior leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention.
- Oversee management of controversial and sensitive staff issues.
- Oversee employee-relations activities and programs including but not limited to employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, and employee recognition programs.
- Provides support and guidance to senior leadership, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Manages talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, non-exempt and professional roles.
- Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Advises and assists senior management on human resources management issues.
- Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops human resources staff; manages schedules and workflow.
- Keeps up to date on overall activities of the company, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions with senior leadership where applicable and within scope.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises employees as designated within the HR division, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION AND EXPIERENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Associate degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and; a minimum of three years of human resource management experience.
- Thorough understanding of human resources principles and practices, including employment law, Affirmative Action, and EEO compliance.
- Proven leadership and business acumen skills, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating team members.
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Creative, flexible, excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
