Human Resource Generalist
Shared Ice Services (SIS) is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support our shipbuilding workforce at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB). This is a 100% in-office role, embedded in an active shipyard environment, supporting leaders and employees across operations, trades, and administration.
Nichols Brothers Boat Builders along with Everett Ship Repair comprise key companies within Ice Cap Holdings and the Pacific Northwest maritime industry.
This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a hands-on, operational setting and enjoys being a visible, trusted partner to the business.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the on-site HR point of contact for employees and supervisors
- Support employee relations, performance management, and workplace issue resolution
- Administer onboarding, benefits, leaves, and personnel changes through HRIS
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records (electronic and paper)
- Support recruiting efforts, including postings, applicant tracking, and hiring coordination
- Coordinate 90-day and annual performance review cycles
- Ensure compliance with federal and Washington State employment laws
- Reinforce company policies, safety standards, and workplace expectations
- Generate HR reports and analyze workforce trends (turnover, absenteeism, staffing)
- Assist with training coordination and workforce development initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, maritime, or industrial environments
- Strong employee relations and coaching skills
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site setting
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS required
- SHRM-CP preferred
