Position Summary The Human Resources Specialist I provides foundational HR support by assisting with daily human resources operations, employee inquiries, and administrative processes. This entry-level role supports onboarding, HRIS data management, payroll and benefits coordination, and compliance activities while building HR knowledge and skills under the guidance of senior HR staff. Responsibilities HR Operations & Employee Support Serve as a first point of contact for employees regarding HR questions, policies, and procedures Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, orientation coordination, and termination documentation Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS and personnel files Payroll & Timekeeping Support Assist with auditing employee data to ensure payroll accuracy Support timekeeping processes by resolving basic employee issues and escalating complex concerns Partner with payroll teams to resolve discrepancies Benefits Administration Support Assist employees with benefit enrollment, life event changes, and general inquiries Process benefit changes and maintain accurate documentation Support open enrollment preparation and employee communications Compliance & HR Administration Assist with compliance documentation related to FMLA, ADA, and other employment regulations Support HR audits, reporting, and file maintenance Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee information Recruitment & Staffing Support Assist with posting job openings and tracking candidates Coordinate interviews, background checks, and pre-employment screenings Prepare offer letters and onboarding materials as directed General HR Support Provide administrative support to HR leadership and team members Participate in HR projects, process improvements, and system updates Perform other duties as assigned to support HR operations Qualifications Education Associate’s degree required Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred Experience 0–2 years of experience in Human Resources, administrative support, or customer service Healthcare or multi-department environment experience preferred but not required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic understanding of HR principles and employment practices Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn HRIS systems High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality Preferred Certifications SHRM-CP or PHR (preferred but not required) Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
