Freedman Consulting, LLC, a mission-driven consulting firm, seeks a Human Resources (HR) and Operations Manager to lead office operations and support human resource needs. The HR and Operations Manager is a vital role on the HR and Operations team and will join a growing team of almost 50 people working at the intersection of policy, philanthropy, and politics, to advance innovations and impacts for the greater social good.

The HR and Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and management of a variety of people administration and operational needs for the firm. They will be handling multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment. The HR and Operations Manager will play an active role in the firms HR and Operations team. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that works across the entire organization, engages with staff at all levels of the firm, and identifies and implements strategies to enhance the firms operational efficiency.

Our work includes strategic planning and issue landscaping for major foundations, campaign advising and coordination for coalitions, and policy development for a variety of advocacy and political campaigns and spans topics including public-private partnerships, economic mobility, criminal justice reform, and technology policy.

Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President for HR, DEIB & Operations, primary responsibilities for the HR and Operations Manager include (but are not limited to):

People Administration
  • Leading employee onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Addressing and identifying employee relations issues and determining the appropriate course of action in collaboration with the Vice President for HR, DEIB & Operations
  • Contributing to staff communications on employee policies
  • Leading planning for firmwide events and meetings
  • Supporting progress review and performance management processes
  • Managing benefits administration and overseeing the open enrollment process
  • Overseeing firm internship program including intern onboarding and offboarding

Firm Operations
  • Serving as main point of contact and oversight for all office operations, including technology, equipment, and facilities management; leading selection of solutions and equipment for the office, and responsible for office inventory and supplies
  • Coordinating with office vendors as needed
  • Serving as main point of contact for physical facility and with building landlord, handling general office communications regarding closures, security, parking, and other related issues
  • Taking on supervisory responsibilities and supporting the development of HR and Operations team members

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:
  • A combination of one or more of the following types of experience in an office environment is required: office management, HR administration/people operations, and/or administrative support
  • Working knowledge of labor laws, general human resources, people operations, facilities or office management processes
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment in a role that requires proactivity, successful project planning, and execution with a high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, and success advancing process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency
  • Prior experience collaborating across internal teams and external vendors
  • Strong communications skills including verbal and written communication and the ability to effectively delegate tasks
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom are required; experience with an HRIS or similar employee management tool is preferred

Approximately 5-7 years of previous operations, HR, or office administration and/or operations experience. The salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000. In addition to base annual compensation, Freedman Consulting offers a comprehensive benefits package and discretionary annual bonus based on individual and firm performance. The starting salary is determined based on the candidates knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity considerations, and budget availability.
