Position: Human Resources Generalist
Location: Swanton, VT (Onsite)
Type: Part Time, Year-Round
Training/Work Schedule: Training: M-F 7:00am to 1:30pm
Work hours: M-F and can range from 6:00am to 5:00pm (6-hour shifts)

Position Summary:
A Human Resources Generalist performs administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Human Resources Department.

Job Functions:
An HR Generalist will be responsible for providing assistance to and taking direction from the Director of Human Resources.
Job functions are as follows:
Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute the following components of Human Resources (HR) related matters:
Compliance with federal, state and local employment laws & regulations and recommended
best practices, inclusive of VPT internal practices, policies & procedures for this multi-state
employer
Preparation of weekly payroll, including verification of time and attendance records, ensuring accuracy of payroll deductions, taxes, and benefit contributions.
Recruitment, on-boarding and terminations
Conduct new hire and benefit orientations and employee recognition programs.
Maintain performance evaluation schedules and talent management programs.
Assist with disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations.
Maintain employee personnel, medical, benefit, and complaint files.
Act as a liaison for employee and manager interactions for complex and sensitive matters.
Employees in this position are required to adhere to a high level of confidentiality.
Maintaining the utmost confidentiality in dealing with employee records and/or business information related to personal, medical, financial, procedural, and/or proprietary information

Education Requirements:
High school education required or an equivalent of education and experience from which
comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
At least 1-2 years of previous Human Resources experience required

Experience Requirements:
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Requires working knowledge of basic office equipment
Excellent written communication skills for documentation and corresponding via mailings, email and social media
Effective verbal communication skills for the purpose of corresponding and interacting with individuals at all levels within the organization as well as outside of the organization, including community members, resources, vendors and applicants
Effective presentation skills for communicating new hire, benefit, and open enrollment information, training sessions and touring visitors within the facility
Excellent computer and data entry skills and proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn to organization’s HRIS, benefit and Microsoft software systems
Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Ability to work within an atmosphere of continuous improvement and teamwork.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to details
Familiarity with LEAN principals and waste elimination are a plus
Must be 18 years of age
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of criminal background investigations as well as passing a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen.
