Given the opportunities and challenges in recruiting and retaining clinical, administrative and leadership talent in todays workplace, especially in the not-for-profit mental healthcare sector, this is a critical position for NYFS, that requires a focused knowledgeable HR manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the President and CEO, collaborates with leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Administers human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; performance management; disputes and investigations; and talent management; occupational health and safety; and training.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Be the point of contact on compensation, benefit, and other HR questions for employees.
  • Monitors the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; suggests revisions and modifications to policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to leadership team.
  • Maintain complete employee files in accordance with best practice and appropriate laws.
  • Enter and verify accuracy of bi-weekly payroll with Paychex.
  • Conduct data entry of employee information into Paychex and other data- keeping platforms.
  • Actively contribute to staff meetings, and agency and community events as assigned.
  • Abides by all professional ethical standards.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • A BS/BA with an HR concentration or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of professional-level Human Resource work experience
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to complete reports, develop policy and procedures, create job descriptions and other documents
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in nonprofit and/or mental health settings
  • Experience working with Paychex Time and Attendance and Payroll Systems.

Strong candidates will have a solid understanding of their own culture and practice sensitivity and respect to the cultural backgrounds of clients as well as other staff. NYFS welcomes clients as well as staff with diverse cultural/ethnic identities, sexual orientations, gender identities, disabilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000 per year based on education, training and/or experience.

  • The final week of the year NYFS closes services to ensure all staff have a paid collective week off to support work sustainability.
