Serves as general consultant and liaison for the HVAC programs between installers and Energy Supervisor(s). Services to include the delivery and installation for qualified customers. Essential Responsibilities Troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces heating source and water heaters in residential homes (Dual pack units, wall furnace, direct vent furnace, and FAU). Has the ability to communicate with Tech support and explain problems with a variety of HVAC systems including but not limited to dual packs, split systems, FAU, Ductless Mini Splits, Central Heat Pumps, Heat Pump Water Heaters. Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools and trade specific diagnostic, analyzing, calibrating and commissioning instruments including but not limited to monoxers, Duct blaster, Multi Meters, Clamp Meters, Monometer, anemometers, thermometers, etc. Provides a materials list and an accurate estimate in order to complete jobs. Prioritizes and manages different tasks to be completed. Follows all safety regulations. Ensures quality and compliance of all installations and repairs to utility standards and city building codes. Follows and implements verbal and written directions. Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems, and performing warranty services. Documents and reports work performed to ensure accurate billing. Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems. Ensures client satisfaction by exhibiting consideration, courtesy, professionalism and promptness in carrying out all duties of the program. Travels to meetings, trainings, and program update meetings/conferences, as needed. Continued education. Perform all other related duties as directed by Supervisor. Position Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum 5 years' experience in HVAC such as replacement of water heaters, furnaces, dual packs, split systems and HVAC related appliances or equivalent. Language Skills Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, or organizations. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Access to transportation, a California driver's license, and the minimum vehicle insurance needed by law. A forklift certification is desirable or must be obtained upon employment. Travel Requirement Will require weekly travel to Energy Program job sites at 20% of the weekly schedule and other assigned divisional areas. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out‑of‑area and overnight travel may be expected. Physical Demands Ability to: safely climb ladders up to ten (10) feet in height; stand for extended periods; bend, twist, kneel and stoop; lift and carry seventy‑five (50) pounds; physically able to work on HVAC units; travel to job sites, other locations, and outside training; employee must be able to lift and move heavy appliances, with assistance, regularly. Work Environment Outdoor work environment. Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on the time of year.
