13 weeks | Days | 10-hour shift | 40 hours guaranteed weekly

Please get in touch with a recruiter for full details.Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, performs clinical laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and instrument maintenance. Maintains cooperative working relationships with intradepartmental and interdepartmental personnel.Performs a variety of general laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs routine and special laboratory tests following requisition of a physician, may perform clinical tests in any one or combination of areas of specialization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Wears appropriate apparel for the position and displays nametags upon such apparel.
- Regular and predictable work attendance.
- Performs routine and special laboratory tests within.
- Recognizes test inconsistencies and takes appropriate corrective action. Assists laboratory co-workers in the resolution of similar problems. Seeks help from the Laboratory Manager.
- Calls critical test results to physicians or nurses immediately and according to established criteria.
- Prepares test reports legibly. Initials and dates of own work performed. Reviews reports for clerical accuracy and clinical indications.
- Performs quality-control tests.
- Runs quality-control tests according to procedure and maintains appropriate data recording.
- Analyzes quality-control data and takes appropriate corrective action when results are outside acceptable limits. Assists laboratory co-workers in the resolution of similar problems. Seeks help from the Laboratory Manager as required. Documents actions taken.
- Holds patient results until out-of-control situations are resolved. Reports unresolved situations to the Laboratory Manager.
- Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Observe and follow department preventive maintenance schedules.
- Documents all instrument checks, preventive maintenance, routines, problems, and corrective actions taken.
- Recognizes, analyzes, and takes corrective action to resolve instrument/clinical problems. Assists laboratory co-workers in the resolution of similar problems. Seeks help from the Laboratory Manager as required.
- Reports unresolved instrument/clinical problems to the Laboratory Manager.
- Performs clerical functions associated with the laboratory area.
- Helps maintain files pertinent to the laboratory area.
- Contributes to the general laboratory functions and institutional needs.
- Performs specimen collection and processing duties as needed or assigned and according to policies established in the Phlebotomy area.
- Attends regular department staff meetings and in-service training.
- Observes laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, and safety practices.
- Keeps work area neat and clean, and restocks daily supplies.
- Assumes the role of leadership in the routine daily activities of the section as assigned.
- Maintains equilibrium in stressful situations.
- Participates in departmental "on-call" schedule which requires a 30-minute response time
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- May be assigned responsibilities for coordinating education activities.
- Assists the Laboratory Manager in inventory control and requisition of supplies.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
Experience:
- Previous experience preferred
Education: Associate Degree in Medical Technology
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registration:
- ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized Medical Technology certification required within one year of hire
- Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire
EMR System: EPIC experience preferred
Shift: Monday - Thursday 6:30 pm-5 am
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Reasoning and language skills at the college level
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; and both a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, patients, and visitors, and satisfactory job performance despite the stress of a hospital work environment.
- Ability to understand and follow directions
