Position Summary:
The RN Director of ICU provides leadership and support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for overseeing all nursing and patient care functions within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, maintains clinical staff competency, and optimizes resource management within assigned departments.
The Director assumes 24/7 accountability for the assigned areas and supports the CNO in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for ICU nursing and patient care services.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and professional standards of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and other leaders to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, clinical outcomes, and patient safety initiatives.
- Oversee departmental budgets, staffing, and resource utilization.
- Promote an environment that fosters professional growth, teamwork, and evidence-based practice.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for the nursing profession.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in Nursing with a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Master's degree in a healthcare-related field.
Experience:
- Required: Minimum of 2 years of ICU management experience in a hospital setting at the Director or Manager level.
Licensure/Certification:
- Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
- CPR certification required.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of background check and pre-employment health screening, including drug testing.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage operations, and ensure high standards of care.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base Salary: $150,000 $185,000 (USD)/ Year
