Job Description Seeking a BMET Imaging Engineer to join a growing Healthcare company in Virginia. (Job#: 3018113) About The Role Imaging BMET (Imaging Engineer) to serve as the senior member of a two‑person imaging team supporting sites in Northern Virginia. You’ll perform expert‑level service across advanced imaging modalities, lead complex preventive and corrective maintenance, and partner closely with vendors while driving insourcing strategy to reduce multi‑vendor service dependency. This is not an IT role; however, working knowledge of DICOM and basic network configuration is required. Key Responsibilities Serve as the full‑service imaging expert across focus clinical areas (radiology/imaging; emphasis on IR/Cath labs and CT). Perform and document preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs on complex imaging equipment; workload is roughly split between PM and corrective work. Coordinate and/or perform installations and initial inspections; ensure equipment meets safety, regulatory, and policy requirements. Maintain accuracy of the medical equipment inventory system, including new‑equipment intake (warranty dates, model/class, department, location) and annual validation in specialty areas. Act as primary vendor interface and collaborate on advanced troubleshooting; support insourcing plan by transitioning equipment off multi‑vendor contracts as feasible. Provide mentorship and training to the intermediate imaging technician; model strong communication from front‑line clinical staff to leadership. Configure imaging systems at a working‑knowledge level: DICOM node configuration and Windows IPv4 address settings; partner with IT/networking as needed for deeper items. Uphold safety and compliance standards; complete all required documentation and service records. Primary Modalities & Vendor Ecosystem IR/Cath Lab (preferred): Siemens and/or Philips CT (highly valuable): Siemens and/or GE Broader environment includes the “big three”: GE, Philips, Siemens. Vendor modality training and active service credentials are highly desired. Minimum Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CBET, Microsoft, medical device manufacturer certifications). Experience: 5+ years relevant imaging service experience (will consider 5+ years strong imaging modality experience with vendor training). Licensure: Valid Virginia Driver’s License. Technical mastery across electronics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, TCP/IP networking (working knowledge), wireless protocols, chemistry/ionizing radiation fundamentals, and human anatomy/physiology as relevant to imaging systems. DICOM & Networking: Demonstrated experience configuring DICOM nodes and Windows IPv4 settings on imaging modalities. Communication: Proven ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, vendors, and administrators. Preferred Qualifications Vendor‑provided modality training (e.g., Siemens, GE, Philips) with active service access transferable on day one. RSTI (or similar) imaging training plus vendor training. Demonstrated success operating within multi‑vendor service environments and transitioning assets in‑house. Physical Demands & Work Environment Prolonged sitting/standing; frequent bending/stooping/ladder climbing; walking 1–2 miles/day; repetitive motion (keyboard); regular driving/travel between sites. Ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs; exposure to noise, radiation, fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, and dust. EEO Employer Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
