New Growth Innovation Network (NGIN) is a non-profit advancing inclusive economies in US cities and regions. In a country where policies and norms have long hindered equal economic participation, NGIN identifies economic growth and ensures that historically economically excluded communities lead, shape and benefit from that growth. NGINs mission is to ensure that economic opportunity is not limited by income, race, gender or geography. By shifting the field of inclusive growth from theory to practice, we work to build shared wealth across all of Americas communities and regions.


NGIN is seeking to hire an Advisor for its Insights and Innovation team that focuses on research and knowledge development, curating immersive learning experiences, and engaging stakeholders in virtual and in-person spaces to advance inclusive economic development approaches. The position provides the opportunity to learn and make important contributions to the sector, as you work alongside leading experts at the forefront of inclusive economic development.


The following are envisioned as the main responsibilities:

  • Lead projects and/or project components, especially knowledge development and
  • insights generation on a wide variety of topics through quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Knowledge about one or more of the following topic areas is highly desired: inclusive finance, inclusive workforce and human capital development, inclusive economic structures and strategies, community development, digital inclusion, equitable small business ecosystems, inclusive technology-based economic development, and other allied fields
  • Engage the NGIN network and undertake outreach to new stakeholders to support NGINs cross-sectoral communities of practice
  • Identify opportunities to bring practitioners and stakeholders across multiple fields together for peer-to-peer learning and designing innovations
  • Actively engage stakeholders in geographies where NGIN is not present to introduce NGIN, explore opportunities for collaboration, and expand the NGIN network
  • Support existing projects and initiatives by designing effective ways to share insights and communicate learnings with varied audience such as practitioners, policy makers, donors, etc.

Curate and host virtual and in-person events, including speaker identification, session topics, attendees, etc.


About the Candidate/Qualifications:

You have strong experience in economic development or allied fields and a firm commitment to inclusion and economic justice. You have the ability to think both critically and creatively, generating new ideas and new ways of working. You have demonstrated skills in research, stakeholder engagement, and peer learning models. You are an excellent writer and communicator with the ability to deliver complex insights to a variety of audiences. You have the capacity to rapidly acquire new knowledge, the organizational and time management skills to balance multiple projects concurrently, and the ability to work as member of a team in a low- structure environment. Finally, you may have a degree in economic development, economics or urban planning/policy or you may have come into the field of inclusive economic development through lived experience.


Benefits & Compensation:

The salary for this role is commensurate with experience, ranging from $85,000 - $95,000. Benefits for this position include health care, annual bonus, depending on performance, matched contributions to an employer 401k plan and generous PTO. This role is based in the US and is remote, with travel approximately 15% of the time.
