INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR-CLINICAL SUPERVISOR & PSYCHOTHERAPIST

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Position overview: The primary role of the Clinical Supervisor is to provide clinical supervision for Therapists and Interns, as well as direct clinical services as assigned by the CEO. The Psychotherapist provides direct clinical psychotherapy services to individuals diagnosed with both Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Health conditions who may reside in the community or group home setting. In this role, the psychotherapist will assess, treat and monitor mental health symptoms, provide crisis intervention and support, participate in case consultation, advocacy, information and referral as needed to those experiencing mental health issues.

This is an independent contractor position located in New York.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Supervisor

  • Facilitate clinical supervision for assigned staff, addressing development of diagnostic, treatment planning, and intervention skills, processing any countertransference issues, and the resolution of ethical/legal challenges as prescribed by law.
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training to supervisees related to agency policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates the quality of work of individual clinicians and helps to improve their clinical skills and documentation.
  • Review case records to ensure that clinical documentation (psychosocial assessments, treatment plans and progress notes) has been completed in compliance with federal and state regulations, professional and industry standards, and Agency policy.
  • Review clinical documentation, correct errors, and educate supervisees as to documentation requirements. Final approve and sign clinical documentation, ensuring all documents are current and appropriate.
  • Assist in coordination, development, and/or oversight for selected services or programs, as assigned.
  • Participate in case reviews following psychiatric hospitalization and incident reports to Child Protective Services and the NYS Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
  • Prepare written evaluations, Corrective Action Plans, and disciplinary actions for individual workers, as required.
  • Hold regular supervision meetings with supervisees to discuss the status of individual cases and documents supervision in a log.
  • Meet with CEO to discuss findings in clinical supervision and documentation.
  • Ensures that clients are treated at an appropriate level of care and utilization of services is clinically appropriate.
  • Monitors high risk clients on clinicians caseloads and ensures appropriate interventions.
  • Reviews and approves cases for discharge.
  • Provide supervisory oversight and consultation/management of instances of crises and incidents of abuse and neglect. Provide coverage and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by CEO.

Psychotherapist

  • Facilitate individual/group/couple/family psychotherapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with identified patient(s) in treatment, executing a patient centered approach.
  • Conduct clinical interventions that are consistent with patients diagnosis.
  • Serve as a source of advocacy, information and referral for patient needs, light case management services as necessary.
  • Consult with patients multidisciplinary team to determine appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Offer crisis intervention services to patients in keeping with mental health emergency protocols.
  • Participate in incident management as legally prescribed and required.
  • Complete progress notes recording clinical activity in electronic health record within 24 hours of the date of the session in time frame set forth by Medicaid, Medicare and all health insurances.
  • Prepare treatment related letters or written reports as occasionally needed.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision meetings with the Company.

Qualifications:

  • LCSW credential; active NYSOP licensure and registration must be maintained at all times.
  • Experience with providing clinical supervision to licensed mental health professionals and review of clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory, medical billing and industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An adaptable, creative, empathic, and receptive approach to psychotherapy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Independent Contractor-Psychotherapists, their patients and the patients supports.
  • Familiarity with applicable services and resources.
  • Capacity to perform responsibilities independently, superb organizational skills and a flexible schedule.
  • Proof of annual mandated training (justice center incident management and mandated reporter).
