Plant Automation & Controls Engineer

LOCATION - Phenix, City, AL / Columbus, GA area
We are seeking a skilled Plant Automation Controls Technician or Engineer to enhance our manufacturing processes through effective automation solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems that optimize production efficiency and ensure operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement PLC programs for various manufacturing processes
- Design and maintain control systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation and control systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate SCADA and HMI systems
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of instrumentation and robotics
- Provide technical support and training for plant personnel on automation technologies
- Ensure that all electrical controls and wiring meet industry standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in PLC programming and automation within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, and industrial controls
- Familiarity with SCADA and HMI development tools
- Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming) along with communications within enterprise and control networked systems
- Proficiency with VFD and servo applications
- Experience with robotic platforms (ABB, Fanuc, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong understanding of safety standards and practices in automation, industrial Settings, with Electrical Systems, etc.
