Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician – Iowa Cage Free (Ovation Farms) Department: Maintenance Location: Thompson, IA Reports To: Business Unit Leader Job Type: Full-time, hourly Job Summary The Industrial Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and conveying processing systems and industrial machines. This role involves preventative and predictive maintenance, testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs, contributing to the daily achievement of production goals by ensuring optimal machine functionality.Essential Job FunctionsRepair and perform basic maintenance on industrial machinery, including automation, mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems, following manufacturer recommendations and company SOPs.Identify root causes of mechanical and electrical issues, performing essential repairs such as welding, fabricating parts, plumbing, or replacing defective components.Diagnose and conduct conveyor maintenance as scheduled.Perform preventive maintenance on processing machines and supporting equipment.Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.Troubleshoot and replace or repair drive chains, gears, belts, pulleys, shafts, rollers, electric motors, and gearboxes.Maintaining and organizing a parts inventory system. Ordering parts and communicating with external vendors.Maintain tools, keeping them clean and in good working condition, and keep the work area organized and safe. Identify and correct unsafe conditions, working with management to resolve safety concerns.Follow compliance, food safety, and biosecurity rules, policies, and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Knowledge of electrical systems, electrical testing devices, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.Reading and comprehension skills for understanding SOPs and written instructions.Effective and professional communication skills.Strong work ethic, honesty, and team-oriented character.Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Experience with safety equipment such as LOTO, harnesses, lanyards, hoists, and PPE is a plus.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.Prefer additional trade or technical school education in maintenance, mechanical, welding, HVAC, or electrical.Prefer 2+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, or facility systems maintenance.Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holiday hours as required.Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull 75+ lbs.Ability to walk, climb, stand, and sit for long periods and work in tight spaces.Preferred QualificationsMaintenance experience in the food, poultry, or agriculture industry is a plus.Work Environment Expect walking, climbing (ladders and stairs), standing, and sitting for long periods, and working in tight spaces.
