Job Description
Your day powering a steel mill

Before the first arc lights, you’ve already walked the line: you reviewed overnight logs in the CMMS, prioritized work orders, and checked your lockout/tagout kit. You’re the go-to pro who keeps conveyors moving, motors humming, and PLCs talking so our people can build what communities depend on.

About CMC

CMC is a Fortune 500® leader in construction reinforcement and steel products. For more than a century we’ve backed bridges, roadways, buildings, and the infrastructure that connects us. We succeed because of the people inside our mills, recycling centers, fabrication plants, and offices—people like you.

What you’ll tackle
  • Execute predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment—documenting tasks, time, notifications, work orders, and corrective actions in our computer systems.
  • Diagnose and repair A/C and D/C drives and motors, PLC-based controls, and 480V three-phase electrical systems.
  • Apply your knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems to troubleshoot faults, inspect components, and prevent failures.
  • Perform safe repairs at height and in challenging conditions using hand, power, and precision tools; uphold housekeeping standards and tool care.
  • Mentor peers, collaborate on complex jobs, and participate in scheduled equipment training.
  • Support building maintenance as needed and model our Safety Culture in all tasks.
The rewards start day one
  • Day 1 Benefits Coverage with low-cost Medical, Vision, Dental
  • Day 1 Paid-time Off and Vacation
  • 4.5% Company Match 401(k) plan
  • $500 Annual Company-paid Lifestyle Benefit
  • Competitive Compensation and Bonuses
  • Company-paid Life and Disability Insurance
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Training and Advancement Opportunities
What you bring
  • 3+ years in an industrial maintenance role.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial electrical repairs, including A/C–D/C drives and motors, PLCs, and 480V three-phase power.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems in heavy industry.
  • Ability to read technical documents/manuals and write clear job instructions.
  • Demonstrated root-cause approach, attention to detail, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to cross-train across disciplines.
Physical and schedule expectations
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders and steps; work outdoors in all weather.
  • Work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, some holidays, and overtime.
